THE 5TH VH AWARD
<The 5th VH Award> is an award for media artists. To develop the visual concept, we used the structure of displays—the environment and the tool of expression for media arts.
To interpret the function and shape of these components into typographic form, we analyzed the qualities of pixels, the smallest units that make up an image, and liquid crystals, which control lightness. The moving poster manifests the linear/modular structures of pixels and the fluid states of liquid crystals between solids and liquids.
미디어아트의 환경이자 표현방식인 디스플레이의 구조를 참고해 영상으로 표현될 수 있는 모든 오디오 비주얼 아트 작품을 모집하는 <The 5th VH Award>의 비주얼 콘셉트를 도출했다.
디스플레이의 구조 중, 이미지를 구성하는 가장 작은 단위 면적인 픽셀과 빛의 강약을 조절하는 액상결정의 기능 및 형태를 참고하여 타이포그래피로 형상화했다. 픽셀의 직선적이고 구조적인 모듈과 액상결정의 고체와 액체 사이의 유기적인 물성은 무빙 포스터에서 더욱 특징적으로 드러난다.
