We represented Soswaewon by arbitrarily combining our research on the garden without our physical experience of the place. These graphics do not reproduce the actual Soswaewon. Through creatively analyzing and putting the research data together, we created Soswaewon that is in our imagination. The scholars of that time wrote “Uiwonki” (意園記) which means imaginary garden writings to envision their ideals through gardening. We, too, envisioned our imaginary garden and strolled around through visualizing the ideal form of Soswaewon. The audience gets to imagine and share Soswaewon with us.
우리는 실재하는 소쇄원을 경험하지 않고, 소쇄원에 관한 저작과 자료를 자의적으로 조합해 소쇄원을 표현한다. 이 그래픽 결과물은 실재하는 소쇄원을 재현하지 않는다. 자료를 창의적으로 해석하고 결합하는 과정을 통해 상상 속의 소쇄원을 창조한다. ‘의원기’라는 형식을 통해 자신의 이상향을 상상하고 항유했던 당대의 선비들과 같이, 우리도 이상적인 소쇄원의 모습을 그려나가는 행위를 통해 상상 속의 소쇄원을 거닌다. 관람객들은 우리와 함께 소쇄원을 상상하고 그 조각을 나눠 갖는다.
